Calligrapha beetle - Calligrapha rowena

Calligrapha beetle - Calligrapha rowena
Mer Bleue conservation area, Ottawa-Carleton, Ontario, Canada
October 1, 2013
I found this calligraphic beetle on a dogwood shrub. I am not sure just which species it is, as it looks unusual, as if the pattern on its back is not quite complete.

Calligrapha rowena --det. J. Gomez-Zurita
his comment: "the elytral pattern doesn't look quite complete, but it looks like a teneral specimen to me, just emerged from pupa. The spots and stripes take a while to develop. At first the elytra are completely pale yellow and the spots 'fill' progressively in the first hours after emergence."

Moved from subgenus Calligrapha.

Thank you
Well, that is really interesting. I have not seen C. rowena before, though have seen many C. multipunctata and C. philadelphica. I am very happy to have this identified.
