Phantom Crane Fly - Ptychoptera quadrifasciata

Phantom Crane Fly - Ptychoptera quadrifasciata
Amherst, Massachusetts, USA
August 26, 2004
Photographed in my backyard. I am pretty sure this is a Crane Fly, though it does seem a little more stout-bodied than the usual slender individuals I have found.

Phantom crane fly?
Pretty sure this is one of the phantom crane flies, and that we have other images of this species in BugGuide.

Ah yes!
Oh, like this fella:

I always think of the black-and-white banded Crane flies when I think of Phantoms...this is good to know:)

Ptychopteridae
Yes, both belong to Ptychoptera quadrifasciata, a crane fly wannabe, oops! - Chen

Created a page...
...and moved both

Ptychoptera, right?
Was the conclusion on that other photo that it was Ptychoptera?

and what about
this one

Yes!
Definitely Ptychoptera, 100% certain, no doubt. ;-)

"Trus me, I know what I'm doing." [Famous last words but I forgot whose they were.) ;-))

guide page
If so do you want to create the page for it Patrick? Maybe we should get a confirmation from Paul first?

you're call...both look very similar to the (blurry) photo on Cedar Creek's site...

Wrote a guide page, moved photos
I wrote a quick guide page, based on Internet references.

(I wish there was a way to let other editors work on pages already authored--kind of a groupware project.)

Wiki
You would get a Wiki idea but with registered users. Maybe something to add to the requested features?

Wow...
.., I guess I just beat you answering the question before I knew the question was asked. :-) Just compare the post times of our two messages...
