Helophilus fasciatus Walker, male
Moved from Helophilus. Tentatively ID'd from specimen, now a photo-voucher. Thanks Tom.

You sent one of the smaller Helophilus from this date (852280, 852283), but I believe this individual is the one I have in front of me.

It is interesting as the width of the front is suggestive of H. latifrons but the completely black hairs on the narrowed portion suggest H. fasciatus. Which character to give more weight? I don't know...

Genitalia seem a bit different on this smaller one compared to the larger one (852286) but it may just be a scaling difference?

Kelsey, I saved these specimens and will be sending them to Brad B. pretty soon to try and get definitive ID's on. Hopefully we'll hear which one this is.
