A. terminalis:

Welcome to BugGuide!

Western Conifer Seed Bug?
I recently found a Western Conifer Seed Bug (Leptoglossus occidentalis) outside my home in New Jersey. I actually mounted it and its drying in my basement. Your species seems to be the same as mine. Did it smell at all? I know mine did, sheesh it wreaked.

Not a stink bug.
I think Leaf-footed Bug. Perhaps Acanthocephala terminalis. See: http://bugguide.net/node/view/540764

Bill:
Thanks so much for the photo in your post. I compared both in my photo editor, detail by detail, and "my" bug sure seems to be the same.
Mine did not smell. I even touched it. It did not fly away, just moved over. Sorry I couldn't include some leaves for scale but this where I spotted him, on the side of a hi-rise building although there were trees and bushes around. He sure was not scared of me.
Your post was helpful since I am a novice, although captivated by bugs since grade school. I walked about a mile through the woods with a creek so had the opportunity to investigate the natural world around me. It was like a sixth class each day.
