Tallahassee, Leon County, Florida, USA

Size: wingspan ~25mm

Size
I had measured a wingspan of 26mm for the moth, but when I wanted to post it, I read on the guide page that the wingspan would be 15mm. Actually, I have had specimens for which I measured 22mm, and the size of some posted specimens is given as ~ 25mm (1 inch). Still, I thought that my recorded measurement of 26mm may have been in error, and I omitted an entry for "Size." I succeeded now in locating the spot where the moth had rested and used features of the background to get another wingspan measurement. It turned out to be 24.5mm. Clearly, 15mm is at the low end of the moth's size range!
