Unknown spider - Ummidia

Unknown spider - Ummidia
Goose Creek State Park, Beaufort County, North Carolina, USA
October 6, 2006
Photo taken by park ranger and forwarded to me for ID. Any help is appreciated.

Male trapdoor spider.
This is a male trapdoor spider, probably genus Ummidia. Great image!

Thanks Eric
I'll let the ranger know of your compliment. I was leaning towards Ummidia, I just wished I knew more about the genus.

You're welcome.
Specimens of Ummidia have a saddle-like depression on the third leg, just below the "knee." It is a very conspicuous field mark, but not always obvious in images.
