Chalcophora - but which one? - Chalcophora virginiensis - female

Chalcophora - but which one? - Chalcophora virginiensis - Female
Gainesville, Alachua County, Florida, USA
November 1, 2006
Size: 30 mm
I couldn't figure out which of the two FL sp. this is, and unfortunately had already released it before finding the key linked to the guide, so I'm not sure all significant details are visible. The guide doesn't give sizes, but virginiensis is supposed to be bigger than georgiana - this is an accurate measurement - does it help?

Chalcophora virginiensis
I believe this is the more common species, Chalcophora virginiensis. I am pretty sure this is a female also. The last abdominal segment on the underside doesn't look like it has a large "V" notch, which is a character of males. Great find, its good to see buprestids out this late.

I was leaning that way too
- I just found that 30 mm is the top of the listed size range for C. virginiensis, so if C. georgiana is smaller, it's ruled out by that alone. Thanks for the help!
