I am thinking a male vexans, but I will check a book I have at work. These shots are really fun to look at!

yes male vexans
look at the third shot with the lateral view

wow
I'm up in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada and swear I just spotted 2 of these mosquitos in my house... where do they originate?

well, these are the males
so they dont bite. But I have been finding alot of vexans females in my house too. If you have woods behind your house, that is probably where they are coming from. Dr. Ted Andreadis (Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station) calls them "vicious human biters, that travel considerable distances from their breeding sites."
Just make sure you have screens on your windows, and that they have no holes in them. Good luck!
