Redundant?
How many October "examples" does Grand Forks need of this (and other) species? I apologize for my criticism that probably is inappropriate for a mere Contributor, but in my opinion the Moth portion of BugGuide tolerates too much redundancy as I have discussed here.

Good point, Peter!
As you surmise, most of the moth images from Grand Forks County, North Dakota and Polk County, Minnesota, are redundant for some common species (e.g., Hypena scabra). Images of local moths for this year (2013) are of better resolution, and so Dr. Jerry Fauske, (Research Entomologist and Collections Manager, North Dakota State Insect Research Collection, NDSU, Fargo)and I will be soon be frassing inferior or redundant images of moths from these two Counties. Some local late-season moth species (e.g. Erannis tiliaria) exhibit marked phenotypic variation, which is of particular interest to Dr. Becky Simmons and her graduate students (who study the molecular genetics of wing-pattern variation in moths, Biology Department, UND, Grand Forks). My contribution of images to the BG moth collection has been voluminous and redundant principally for these two reasons, Peter. Happily, after three seasons of dutiful collecting, the systematic frassing of redundant and poor-quality images for our two adjacent ND and MN Counties will soon begin (before the end of this year, 2013)! ;-)

I understand.
Thank you, Carl, for your considerate response to my comment.
