Antennae with 11 segments
beyond the 2nd segment, this one belongs to Tipulidae, and Tipula (Platytipula) is correct. Crane flies of Subgenus Platytipula come out in September and October. The color of this specimens suggests it probably belongs to the ultima group . There is no way to tell species in this group without taking a peek of the tail ends. - Chen
