Tiny South American Anteater - just kidding! - Rhopalapion longirostre - Male
Nashua, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire, USA
September 30, 2006
Size: about 4.3 mm
Taken in sweepnet in diverse-species field near airport. Well, with its coat of setae extending well onto its face and snout, this little weevil does remind me of an anteater.

Yes.
Apion longirostre is the Hollyhock Weevil, which is in fact a brentid. This one appears to be a male. The females have longer snouts, the better to bore deep into the hollyhock bud.

Brentidae: Apion sp.
Not sure about the hollyhock weevil, but this is a member of Apion sensu lato.

Attelabidae.
Pretty sure this is in the family Attelabidae. It is something named after its food plant....dang! I can't remember....Oh, wait:-) Its the hollyhock weevil! Great images, Jim.
