Spikey Fly

Spikey Fly
Near Valle, along US180, Coconino County, Arizona, USA
August 22, 2006
Probably belongs here, right?

Moved
Moved from Archytas per Chuck's comment.

Probably not Archytas
The Tachinidae is a huge family with ID often only possible by examination of a specimen under magnification. There's a whole set of terms for types of bristles on particular parts of the body. In short, there are lots of ways to be wrong!

I could be wrong, too, but my impression is that Archytas are a light color on the top of the thorax, not dark.
