ant mimic spider - Synemosyna formica

ant mimic spider - Synemosyna formica
Messiah College, Grantham, Pennsylvania, USA
November 9, 2006
Size: 5 mm
This ant mimic spider was found by a friend (Dan Schmehl). It has black lines on the front legs which mimic the bent antenna of an ant. It waves its front legs like antenna when its walking. The cephalothorax has a lighter orange triangle on the bottom which mimics the separated head and thorax of an ant. Does anyone know the name of this awesome spider?
