Mocis latipes - male

Mocis latipes - Male
Katy, Harris County, Texas, USA
November 27, 2012
Size: wingspan is 44 mm
Mocis to me seems a confusing group with overlaping or indistinct species markings. With 4 species in TX, marcida seems to be the only one easily distinguished by its PM line terminating before the inner margin. So I am trying to get firm species names by examining the genitalia. Males only of latipes and texana are found at MPG. This one compares nicely to that of latipes. This one was physically measured against a ruler and can not be more or less than 1mm from the measured 44 mm wingspan. Wingspan was measured from the pined, spread specimen.
