Oh, and 0.5 mm would be small for nymphalid eggs too.

Lepidoptera
At this angle I'm not totally sure about Noctuidae vs. Nymphalidae, but noctuids and other moths regularly lay eggs on windows whereas I've never run into butterflies doing so, so I'm betting on the former.

Thanks--I had no clue.
Have recorded six adult noctuid sp. on porch and in adjacent house. Most common are Amphipyra pyramidoides (Aug-Sep.) and Noctua pronuba (July-Aug). Single records for Autographa precationis (Oct.), Maliattha synochitis (June), Morrisonia confusa (Apr.) and Sunira bicolorago (Oct.)
