Springtail with Acari? - Ptenothrix

Springtail with Acari? - Ptenothrix
Deane, Letcher County, Kentucky, USA
November 17, 2013
Size: 1-2mm
Found this little one on a leaf, brought it home to photograph. I didn't see the mite till I put the pictures on the computer. I did notice the Springtail kept falling over and acting strange while taking the pictures.

Ptenothrix sp.
Predated by Acari. Did you save the poor specimen from a certain death?

Acari
I tried to getting it off with a Q-tip but couldn't. I was doing more damage to the poor little thing. The Acari would not release it.
