Catalina Ironwood Leafmine - Stigmella undescribed-species-on-lyonothamnus

Catalina Ironwood Leafmine - Stigmella undescribed-species-on-lyonothamnus
Catalina Island, Los Angeles County, California, USA
June 18, 2012
Catalina Ironwood (Lyonothamnus floribundus) is endemic to the island and therefore any miner of the plant is sure to be interesting... Jerry Powell's Checklist of the Lepidoptera Recorded on Santa Catalina Island lists these Catalina Ironwood leaf miners as Stigmella n. sp. The mines are fairly small and appear to be distinct.

Cool! These are certainly Stigmella mines.

Thanks for the confirmation!
Hopefully this year I can find some active mines and maybe rear some adults if I'm lucky enough.
