Aphididae, perhaps Uroleucon - Uroleucon

Aphididae, perhaps Uroleucon - Uroleucon
Plymouth Rock, Winneshiek County, Iowa, USA
July 17, 2013
on cup plant, Silphium perfoliatum

Moved
Moved from Aphids.

Now that I have collected and identified so many aphids, I am more comfortable saying big red aphids on Asteraceae are usually Uroleucon.

Can't see identifying characteristics.
You're probably right on Uroleucon but you would need to zoom in and get several angles for a positive ID.

Collecting some
is on the list for next year. That way I can get some close-up photos.
Thank you.

Sweet.
Aphids are the worst when it comes to identifying them, especially from pictures :) The more images you can get the better!
