Canoa Ranch Rest Stop along I-19 N, Pima County, Arizona, USA
July 28, 2013
Alice and I had seen just a single one of these at Hereford at few days earlier. We had been very thrilled, and very patiently and carefully stalked it to get photos...since it seemed quite unique and rare to us at that first sighting. I'm glad we did...even though we saw quite a few of them scurrying around the rest stop here later on :-)

I know many are skeptical of the phylogenetic significance of certain subspecies for tiger beetles...but for what it's worth, this would go to C. lemniscata lemniscata (no green on the femora...and west of the range for the other US ssp.).
