? Photographic illusion of yellow-maculated elytra
from reflected adjacent yellow flowers or are those spots real? L. viridis of course should not be spotted.

This one could be in a textbook
on how difficult it is to identify insects from just field photography. Amazingly we see a relatively symmetrical pair of right and left yellowish bands stretching across hind portion of elytra.

 
Agreed
Especially so for an beginning amateur like myself who relies mainly on photos...
