Strepsiptera?? - Xenos peckii

Strepsiptera?? - Xenos peckii
Lawrence, University of Kansas, Douglas County, Kansas, USA
September 23, 2006
These images are of a Polistes wasp with a deformed abdomen, I'm wondering if this is due to Strepsipteran parasitics, I can't tell if any of protrusions are females or no, and I'm hoping a more experienced eye can help me out. This is for an Entomology class at KU and is so far the only thing I've needed help with. Other good finds have been a Mantispid and an Archaegnath. Thanks for the help

Moved from Xenos.

Stylopidae, probably Xenos
These were looked at by a Strepsiptera expert and they were identified as female Stylopids, likely in the genus Xenos, so that is where they will now go.
