Sharpening the focus for photos

Here, on Moth Photographers Group, Focus Magic is recommended for sharpen the focus.
If you use or have used the Focus Magic, what do you think about it?

GIMP
I use GIMP for processing my photos including sharpening. I've found "Levels" to be one of the most useful processes for improving a photo.

Unsharp mask
in Photoshop does the same thing. Several of the moth images looked like they were over sharpened. Sharpening is a great tool, as all of my images on Bugguide have some level of sharpening performed, but you have to be careful how far you can push it before the image gets grainy..

not sure about that
It appears that focus magic works differently from standard Photoshop, etc sharpening. They have a free trial and can be used as a plug-in for photoshop. When I get a moment, I'll try. I agree that some of their shots look a little overcooked.

haven't, but
will. Thanks for the tip.
