I removed the location data (Champaign Co., Illinois), because the moth surely did not originate there.

Marmara gulosa
This probably is larval damage of the citrus peelminer, Marmara gulosa (Gracillariidae); info here. According to the info here, the citrus leafminer, Phyllocnistis citrella (Phyllocnistidae), usually feeds as a larva on the leaves of its host but also occasionally mines the surface of the fruit; however, the mine of P. citrella contains a central line of frass, not seen in this photo.

Would more images help to confirm? I took a variety of angles of the mine, and the guide lacks images of the mine of Marmara gulosa.

Of the two lep spp. mentioned in my previous post, this definitely would be Marmara gulosa, not Phyllocnistis citrella.
