Caterpillar ID Request - Datana integerrima

Caterpillar ID Request - Datana integerrima
PATAPSCO Valley State Park, Suburb of Baltimore County, Maryland, USA
October 23, 2006
This is one of the few images I will post which was NOT taken in my home watershed, but I couldn't pass up finding out what this is!

The bark on the tree makes us think Hickory,
so we will suggest the Walnut Caterpillar, Datana integerrima, images in the guide here

BARK ID
Are you two able to ID trees based on bark photos? If so, I have several images that I would like you to look at if you wouldn't mind?

If you agree I can email a digest... let me know.

We wouldn't want to make any promises,
but we could always try. One problem is that we have a lot fewer tree species here in the oak-hickory woodlands than you guys have in the rich eastern forest! Let us know how we can help.

No worries...
I went through this period of shooting tree trunk/bark images and now I'm want to know what to do with them. Hehe.
