Dicerca asperata

Dicerca asperata
7 km east of Paw Paw, Morgan County, West Virginia, USA
May 22, 1989
Size: 14 mm
Collected on telephone pole. There are three possiblities. D. lepida ruled out because of complete transverse ridge between the eyes. There are two VERY shallow depressions just below this ridge, but I would still call the face basically flat which should rule out D.spreta. However, in lateral view there is just the SLIGHTEST HINT of concavity, so I am not 100% sure. Would be nice to have both D. asperata and D. spreta side by side to compare. Unfortunately, none of the currently posted images on BugGuide really show that feature well.
