Gypsy Moth Caterpillar - Lymantria dispar

Gypsy Moth Caterpillar - Lymantria dispar
Upshur County, West Virginia, USA
June 2, 2004
When I moved to West Virginia in 1986 Gypsy moths had barely entered the state, if at all. Now they have gained a foothold statewide. They soon will become common across Kentucky, Tennessee, and North Carolina. The Forst Service says their range is moving South and East by 21 kilometers per year.
