Pyrgotid Fly #1 and #2, Details - Pyrgota undata - Female
Near the village of House, Neshoba County, Mississippi, USA
April 4, 2006
Dorsal views of the head and the tip of the abdomen.

Fly #1 is the one I feel sure is Pyrgota undata.

Fly #2 is same genus maybe, and a different species?

Both are females?

Note on Fly #2 I was puzzled by what seems to be a double pair of antennae. Thanks to Steve Gaimari who clarified that the mouthparts are what is in front of the antennae on #2.

Thanks very much for your help with this fly!

Moved from Pyrgota.

Pyrgota undata
Nope. Both are females of the same species, Pyrgota undata. The may differ in the coloration a bit, and the wing pattern as well, and I have studied quite a lot specimens, as George Steyskal did before.
