At the first glance...
this one worker looks a bit too yellowish to be an Argentine ant. Nevertheless, this is most likely an immature individual of this species.

The flower probably contributes to the yellowness. I'd guess most of the ants I encounter are Argentine.

I agree it is an argentine. OC is full of the little buggers, this time of year about the only ant you will is that species.

Hey Ron Keep on shooting, actually as it cools down Prenolepis imparis will get moving and will become the dominant winter ant in areas where it occurs. Additionally coastal areas which do not overly chill may continue to see activity of Camponotus.

I'm trying to get photos of some of the more common insects for a county-specific website on biodiversity. Oddly enough, I can't find a house fly! I'm also after cockroaches, know where to look, but don't want to, so the ants are a welcome alternative.
