Short-winged katydid - Dichopetala castanea - Female
Bentsen-Rio Grande Valley State Park, Hidalgo County, Texas, USA

Size: 25 mm
There were many of these on low shrubs along the trail at Bentsen-Rio Grande. Size estimated. I'm not sure if this is the same species as we saw the next day in Starr County:

It looks similar, but not identical. Perhaps Josh Rose will enlighten us with local information in the future.
