Funnel-web spider
Looks like a funnel-web spider. I have oodles of these in my shed. Here's a link to the picture I posted asking for an ID:
http://bugguide.net/node/view/66682/bgimage

no
no spinnerets visible, this is a spider in the family Amaurobiidae

Spinnerets
I don't think this spider is in a position to show the spinnerets because of the casting of the shadows. Maybe the photographer has another view of the spider that shows them. It looks like the spiders in the funnel-weavers section of the guide and almost identical to the one I submitted that was identified here as a funnel-weaver. The eye arrangement is also similar. Maybe someone else could clear this up or another photo would be good.

We would agree with Omar
this looks like an Amaurobiid to us, unfortunately so does your image which Eric identified as Tegenaria, so we're not much help! We'll drop Jeff an email and see if he is knowledgeable about these groups and see if we can get it straightened out for all of us.

Waiting for the decision
I know the spider I photographed is one of MANY in my shed and basement and they are all residing in funnels. They wait at the door or just inside the opening for their prey. The spinnerets are not long like most of the funnel-weavers. I actually would feel better if they were not of the funnel-weaver family. I do have some shots of the spinnerets.

Jeff reports
that funnel-web spiders are not his strength, but this does look like Tegenaria to him too.
