I think I agree with Edward,
though I have enormous respect for Eric's eyes and experience.
Exoprosopa doesn't have those stumped veins (base of third submarginal cell in your photo). Bluntly conical face also fits Dipalta.

thank you Hartmut, i will move it to the genus page, and perhaps ask for a species page for it.

Reminds me most of Exoprosopa, but I am no expert, especially with southeast U.S. species.

my wanting to call it Dipalta serpentina came from looking through Herschel's key to the bee flies of the east, now if i am right or not, that i do not know.
