Which Texas Xylocopa? - Xylocopa griswoldi - Female
Houston, Harris County, Texas, USA
January 14, 2014
Size: about 2.5cm
Found this lady torpid and trying to sun herself on the pathway in the Japanese Garden in Hermann Park. She was pretty cold and was amenable to being picked up. After some time warming up on my hand, I transferred her to a sunny leaf off of the path and she flew away! Black body with minute punctures and very beautiful purple wings in the sunlight (bronzeish in shade).

I have more angles if that would be helpful, though as she was still living I opted to not collect her so don't have the voucher specimen (I've gotten to just collecting bees that I find dead on the sidewalk nowadays).
