It's a girl! - Danaus plexippus - Female
Venice, Sarasota County, Florida, USA
November 26, 2006
9:57am Isn't she beautiful? I took her outside in the sun and put her on the milkweed. She flew away at 10:15am. I had a tear in my eye. What a miracle and joy to watch the process from start to finish.

Very late to the show...
Incredible sequence of shots! The metamorphosis of butterflies is so incredible, and it's great to see the whole process with a single specimen. I haven't had the opportunity to capture a monarch caterpillar, and after seeing these, I'll definitely be doing one of these myself! It's a little late in the season for me to do it now, but once next summer comes around, I'll be watching the monarchs like a hawk. Thanks for sharing the awesome shots!

Thank you
for your kind words. :)

very impressive
