Springtail - Megalothorax minimus

Size: .21 mm
On a cold day (max 2 C, min -2 C) I pulled back a thin layer of moss on an old cut stump. The surface was for the most part frozen and there was ice through the moss. Of the few species of springtail that were active these Megalothorax were the most energetic, still flicking themselves in the air and running around.
