Predatory Stink Bug=Euthyrhynchus floridanus
This very pretty species is The "Florida Predatory Stink Bug", Euthyrhynchus floridanus. The nymph is similar, and is the cover insect of the popular book, Florida's Fabulous Insects, though not identified in that work. (I wrote the author, Mark Deyrup, about it and he very graciously sent me the details.) I have seen the nymph and adult each just once here in the Piedmont of North Carolina. The numph was on vegetation in an old-field habitat. The adult was on a wall under a light near a forested area. It does not appear to be very common in my area. Web references are:
