grasshopper, Gray Bird Grasshopper ? - Schistocerca nitens - Male
Highland Haven, Burnet County, Texas, USA
February 9, 2014
A couple of warm days between the chilly ones, and this large hopper showed up. I'm wondering if it could be one that was going through nymphal stages in our front yard in September through December ? This one wasn't quite as long as some I've seen. I'm pretty sure it's a Schistocerca nitens ? It didn't want to show off its underside though. Many thanks...Denise K.
