EggCaseTBID02132014FW - Argiope trifasciata
Yamato Scrub Nature Area, Palm Beach County, Florida, USA
February 13, 2014
Size: ~1.5
I've been finding these egg cases over the nature area recently. They are approximately 1.5" X .75" in size. They appear to be positioned by silk (?) threads. As you can see from one of the photos, there're eggs inside.

Guess
Banded Argiope - Argiope trifasciata, based on the color, the shape looks like the other guess.

You guys
are on the right track. The predominate orb spider I've been seeing is the Silver Garden A argentata. I'll look for A trifasciata.
Thanks!
