lampyrid larvae-Photinus?

lampyrid larvae-Photinus?
Clemson-Cherry Farm Insectary, Pickens County, South Carolina, USA
February 18, 2014
Found within a very old pine stump that had once been infested with termites. A portion of this stump was uprooted from the soil, and these larvae were located within well-decayed wood below the soil line. There were originally five or six tightly clustered larvae, but these soon dispersed after being disturbed. Chunks of this same stump yielded several larvae over the last several months, but never in a group.
