Spectacular insect
I grew up in Oregon, and this was probably my favorite insect from up there. The strange thing is, these beetles are attracted in large numbers to fresh paint. In downtown Portland, we would have a hatch of them about every four years or so, and it would really freak people out to see the insects (they are large, about two inches) swarming over a freshly-painted building!

Moved to guide
We don't see very many creatures from the west coast - nice addition.
