question & genus
The genus is Sphyracephala, which is the only nearctic genus of Diopsidae (I think). Did you collect this fly in december? that's pretty amazing.

I left the date blank cause m
I left the date blank cause my prof was looking at it at the time (and I consequently didn't have the date); didn't realize it would be filled in automatically. Fixed it now.
