I guess it depends, if we are following the idea that Carpophilus rufus is in fact a distinct species (which currently I believe but will delve deeper in soon hopefully). Then all of the somewhat larger C. melanopterus photos with darker bodies but reddish elytra should be moved to that page. Parsons thought that C. rufus may be a subspecies of C. melanopterus but didn't combine the two. That all being said would make this one of those photos and should maybe put under C. rufus. The other difference I know of is more ecological..."rufus is found on cactus blossoms, whereas melanopterus occurs on flowers of yuccae" - (Parsons 1943) ...the range is also somewhat different but definitely overlapping.
