What's this? - Balaustium

What's this? - Balaustium
My back garden, Baltimore City County, Maryland, USA
October 15, 2006
Not the clearest image but all I have of this specimen.

Moved
Moved from Velvet Mites.

Erythraeidae, likey Balaustium
ID by mite specialist Dr. Joanna Makol, Agricultural University, Wroclaw, Poland.

I should have given you the family
Trombidiidae

Reminds me of....
a velvet mite possibly. But, this is a guess. I do know some are quite large and they look "velvety". Maybe this will help.

Looks like a good-sized mite. Pretty colors too!
Unfortunately there are no mite specialists who visit bugguide :-(
