UNK Spider - Steatoda grossa

UNK Spider - Steatoda grossa
Buxton, Dare County, North Carolina, USA
March 2, 2014
Found inside under the lip of box cover while cleaning out the spiderwebs in my office. What angles or body parts are needed for spider ID? I've never tried to ID spiders before.

False Black Widow
Steatoda grossa. A dorsal (top down shot) is the main one to go for, a shot of the face and underside can also be helpful, sometimes a side view is helpful but the others are more likely to be.

False Black Widow
Thank you. She was released this morning. Before I became a Bugguide addict, she would have been squashed or sprayed.
