Beetle - Acanthoscelides floridae

Beetle - Acanthoscelides floridae
Scientist's Beach, Maryland, USA
August 24, 2002
This very small beetle was scurring across these grass heads, and this view was all I could get of it. It look like a dermestid, but I doubt that's what it is.

Scientist's Beach?
I can't find any reference to a place by that name. Could that be Scientists Cliffs? If that's the case it would be in Calvert County.

Bruchine leaf beetle
AKA Pea & Bean Weevil. That flattened rump is a giveaway. Compare.

And even the fruits in the image
look more like legumes than grasses, though we don't recognize the species.
