Bee aggregation - Habropoda depressa

Bee aggregation - Habropoda depressa
UC Berkeley campus, Alameda County, California, USA
March 11, 2014
Size: size of honey bee
Hundreds of these bees swarming around an underground nest in an English Ivy pseudolandscaped area with planted redwoods. Could see bees coming out of numerous tunnels and some tumbling balls of wrestling bees on the ground (mating behaviour?)
Still have this bee, if I can provide a photo of a character that would help with the ID - let me know
I'm thinking something like Diadasia
