Buck Moth
This is a Buck Moth, (Hemileuca maia). Like other Hemileuca it is a day flying moth. I believe this is the fist picture of an adult Buck Moth on Bugguide.

Thanks guys. I've had may share of run-ins with the caterpillar but I think this is the first buck moth I've seen.

Yes.....
Very nice photos. I've always wanted to see one, however the only large moths I find around here are Cecropia, Polyphemus, various Sphinx's and lots of Underwings.......
