Size: .75 inch
This brilliant beetle was on my car in the Summer of 2005. It was very pretty - reminded me of a Click Beetle, but I have never seen one so brilliantly colored. I walked away for a minute and it was gone. It wasn't shaped like a Tiger Beetle but the color was similar.

this one is probably a member of genus Ctenicera (in the wider sense).

looks like C. resplendens
several spp. in Alaska, but I'll guess Ctenicera resplendens - a couple of subspecies recognized.
