Unknown Beetle - Dermestes maculatus

Unknown Beetle - Dermestes maculatus
Lakeland, Polk County, Florida, USA
December 17, 2006
Size: 8 mm
This beetle was found under the carcass of a mostly decayed fawn. I was under the loose hair amidst a host of silphidae. ID would be appreciated.

Dermestid beetle
A dermestid beetle, genus Dermestes. There are at least a couple species with white undersides so I'm not sure which it is.

Thanks for narrowing this bee
Thanks for narrowing this beetle down to me. I was wondering when I collected these beetles if it was dermestid. I have had bad allergic reactions of hives with them in the past. Fortunately, I had no reaction this time to it.
