White Hemiptera Nymph with Red Band Across Abdomen - Deraeocoris

White Hemiptera Nymph with Red Band Across Abdomen - Deraeocoris
Atlantic Mine, Houghton County, Michigan, USA
July 7, 2013
Size: About 4 mm
While I was carrying it back to the house, it was standing on the back of my hand and pierced my skin, which itched like crazy. This was repeatable. Every time it was on my skin, it would immediately pierce it. It was obviously getting blood, too, because the proboscis was getting redder every time it did it. I don't know if this means it was a predatory bug that actually liked my blood, or just that it would automatically try to drink from whatever it might happen to be standing on.
