Acilius mediatus? - Acilius mediatus

Acilius mediatus? - Acilius mediatus
Albemarle County, Virginia, USA
Found in April, years ago when I lived in Albemarle County, Virginia. I snitched a glass casserole dish from the kitchen and put the beetle in the bowl to photograph. These are very common here in West Virginia, too, appearing in many, many rain puddles and water-filled ruts in dirt roads.

My guess is Acilius mediatus; corrections or other discussion appreciated.

how strange!
Nice to meet you. I'm from Japan and came by netsurfin.
There are also 2 genus of Acilius in Japan. But they don't have any patterns on dorsae like this. it seems beautiful and strange to me.
